What is really going on is way interesting
The USA has such a jump in comparison to other countries owing to the public ownership of the < 1Ghx spectrum that I think an update is necessary.

The truth is that a lot of trans national big businesses have invested in technology obsoleted by what Android from Google represents. They are pushing government officials big time to slow down the introduction of this beneficial technology and that includes the attempt to privatize the 700 Mhz spectrum.

Its to late for them. This season US consumers should bypass the lesser technology because of Android and WiMax. This ZDnet article is a read for those not living in the USA and Japan where public ownership of the < 1 Ghz spectrum was lost. It will take decades to nationalize that spectrum again. In the mean time the USA and Japan look to be the economic engines for the world.
