No, you really don't
That's an unrealistic argument. MOST people don't even know
what operating system they're using. And even a larger number
doesn't know that there's another option. The fact that most
people use Windows doesn't make it the best. It's a horrible
product. Regular Joes who don't know much about their systems
have their usability constantly stifled by adware, spyware, and
viruses. For any other product this would be totally
unacceptable.

As for lack of software, I can run down to CompUSA or the Apple
Store and find all kinds of software on the shelves for my Mac.
Besides, everyone knows you can find much better prices online
anyway. And for many casual users, the Mac comes with all the
software they need already installed. E-mail, browser, word
processing, music management, photo management, music
creation, DVD creation, and movie editing software are all pre-
installed, plus there are 3rd party apps like finance, games, etc.
as well.

As for the Linix market share, we're talking about consumer
computers here. Not enterprise. Linux is not even a blip on the
radar in the consumer space. As for enterprise, the G5 XServe is
making a huge splash right now. This is the beginning of the
wave. With inexpensive XServe clusters popping up at the top of
the top 500 list, you can expect to see Apple take a much larger
slice of that pie in the near future.

You obviously haven't looked at the Macintosh platform recently.
Not only can you buy a product off the shelf (like a mouse,
joystick, digital camera, camcorder, etc.) but it's extremely rare
to have to install ANY software on a Mac to get it to work.

What it comes down to is, most people want cheap, but they pay
more for using Windows in the long run than they would for
buying a Mac. TCO has proven to be lower for Macs time and
time again.
