Maybe the whole IT world is finally getting it
After how many years of "must be compatible", "everybody else
uses it", "it's the standard", "single vendor is cheaper" etc. the IT
world has finally learned that competition is GOOD, that one
company CAN'T deliver the quality, security and ease of use
required by everyone and that when people decide you CAN do
something different, things start changing for the better.

Every major computer vendor now offers open-source software
as an alternative to feeding the beast, even Redmond's research
and development arm in Cupertino.

And, we can thank the DOJ under Janet Reno for that. Without
her leadership, we would all be entirely dependent on one
company without any recourse. And John Ashcroft wouldn't
have lifted a finger.
