Smart ITC people, indeed..

You neglect the fact that "best" is a completely subjective term, that cannot be measured with any authority.

Whereas "fastest" CAN be quantified (albeit with some measure of contention.. and IMO, they should use optimized compilers for both platforms.. or, better yet.. some good ol' assembly code..).

The P4 has a 20 stage pipeline, MMX, SSE, and SSE2 instructions.. of course, if the compiler doesn't take advantage of these features, it won't give an accurate indication of performance and speed of the processor! (Probably same is true for the G5 processor, but I am unfamiliar with the architecture of that machine..)
