This smells fishy. Very fishy. Just the fact that something like this works well enough to be practical is of tremendous consequence and would be extremely valuable to the scientific community. Sounds to me like they're hiding something. I'm guessing that they're hiding that it really doesn't work yet."

Maybe they are just trying to be a little more gentle in saying that this is proprietary technology so back off. Remember that corporate researchers don't have the responsibility to publish their findings in the peer journals that independent researchers have the "duty" of doing.

For example an R&D group at Dupont has no responsibility to publish their newest "stain-beating formulas" (or whatever they may be) so they can be ripped off by all their competitors. D-wave is a corporation so they're entitled to keep their trade secrets veiled.
