Make no mistake, IBM PowerPC 970 (Aka G5 at Apple) is a true 64 bit CPU with 32 bit compatibility.

Panther isn't fully 64 bit OS. but like many other trick in the computing industry, Panther support 64 bit application. Basically Apple face same problem that Microsoft; fully 64 bit OS force current application to be re-writen or re-compile.

Since PC970 is 64 bit CPU which Support 32 bit application, offer the "time" for developer to re-write or re-compile and test their apps.
