Backfill with laptops, G5 minitowers...
For students, the iMac or 12" PowerBook/G4 is a perfectly fine (superior?) alternative.

For folks working at a desk who want/need a large screen, there are low-end G5 alternatives that aren't that much of a stretch from the iMac. And, as pointed out by a previous reply, Apple could choose to make these alternatives even more attractive. For example, they could continue or even deepen the rebate (sale) on the older LCD panels.

I'm sure Apple will weather this storm just fine. Unless, of course, this is the "death knell" for Apple. happy
