Sony do have some strong point to put in balance...
They own Sony Record. Plenty of song and well know Singer at its disposal, in theory (mine) could mean lower cost per song/artist/whatever.... No matter what Apple will always had to deal with all record firm, first. Apple stand, is very clear iTunes: is iPod's sales enabler.
Sony could also gain lot of field due to its extensive experince in battery managing. I love my iPod, but been honest, battery isn't its best spec. I also have an old Sony MD Player/Recorder and battery life is just impresive. Yeah I know technically both player are completly different, so comparison sound quite unfair, but that is my point, Sony's track record, managing battery life is a strong arm.
I just don't want to talk in dept about DRM, licensing, copyright; Singer, Composer need money too so if you want to hear their music I agree to pay, I believe that iTune $.99 per song is fair trade for Apple licensing deal, and song quality is just excelent; actually, my musical earing isn't my best spec. But don't misunderstand; I can differentiate good from bad.
(32K or less, 64K and 128K and up).
Regarding format (AAC, MP3, WMP) Apple iPod default format work very well for me. I mean, any song recorded at least at 128K and up, sound great to me, probably someone with Motzart earing could say that 128K sampling is unbearable; again earing, isn't my best spec.
Now, in today economy, price is the first and the
last buying consideration, why should I turn my view to Sony's player at $400 tag if Apple offer me a probed and well accepted solution with a fair DRM licensing program and wide integration (Mac & PC) lots of format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, WAV) and all of this, inside of a pice artwork like the iPod itself. Sorry it would be price and at this price iPod still is the winner. - Posted by: mabricen Posted on: 07/01/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
