No, the iPod doesn't have lackluster frequency response, the earbuds that come the iPod do. An iPod with a decent set of headphones is awesome.

Yeah, and some other players lack things the iPod has: incredible interface, hard drive (some do, but there are still plenty of small-capacity players out there,) choice of firewire or usb2, etc.
