- There is a reason for this and other factors....
-
While being able to upgrade hardware and drivers is a key factor for
many still I think manufacturers and betting that for the majority and
a growing majority computers are but another appliance and most
people don't upgrade their Microwave or toaster they replace them
when needed. YES there are those who actually FIX their old stuff.
There are those who will take apart a toaster and replace a coil. But
to be honest they are far and few between. Also the COST to a
business to actually warehouse all those pieces part and keep track of
said MUST be prohibative. So why not go to the market that promises
the larger profit and lower costs and that is the consumer and
business who not only is willing but actually wants to treat their
computer systems as replaceable appliances. Get their monies worth
with solid use and production from said for a few years but in the end
after that time period move on to the new model.
