If your TV was software upgradeable and connected to the Internet
If your TV was user upgradeable via software and connected to the Internet, it would be as much of a maintenance burden as the computer. If you locked a computer down to only be Microsoft or Apple or Red Hat or SuSE upgradeable and the user couldn't hose it by clicking yes to every promise to display pr0n and you put the computer on a closed proprietary network, you wouldn't need to worry about PC security ever again.

So it?s not really being a tech slave to the computer, it?s being a tech slave to your own recklessness. Many people I know never run security software and they?ve never had any security problems because they use a little common sense.
