You can use the free software suites that come with the system. Like Outlook Express and the Works suite, which contains word processor, spreadsheet, calander, and database applications. Free when you buy the computer. You can buy it separate if you want for $40. But it has come pre-loaded on every computer I have ever bought since it's inception at no additional cost.
