See, I thought the opposite
I was glad that it ran Linux, as it would be a good opportunity to expose people to Linux, overall benefitting the global computing market.

However, when I first heard about this project, i immediately assumed that MS would be a part of it as they are so philanthropic.

I mean, Bill Gates has given more money to charities than any other person in the world, and that's just him personally...Microsoft themselves have given billions to all sorts of charities, including healthcare, research, college scholarships, libraries, international need...lots and lots and lots of money. Hardly stingy, communistic (I'm not really sure where communistic came from in this discussion...nothing about the company even remotely resembles the communist parties or their ideals....but, whatever...I guess when you are trying to equate something you feel is evil to something else you feel is evil, whether or not they actually are similar is totally irrelevant...)

Whether you like the company or not, or whether you like Gates or not, $35 billion in charitable funds is nothing to sneeze at (the current approximate value of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation).
