- Just say no to Dell
- Don't even think about buying from Dell anymore. Their customer service is a charade. After my two most recent experiences with the company formerly known as Dell, I wouldn't get another Dell computer if they came for free. The current outfit is milking the old Dell's good will for profits, and as customers get burned, insulted, and ripped off, and ultimately turn away as I have, Dell will go the way of Gateway. If you doubt what I'm telling you, the best way to find out for yourself is to log on and place your order. First thing you'll notice is how your order disappears, reappears, then disappears in your order queue. Then the ETA of your system will change from day to day and hour to hour. You'll receive emails confirming the delays of up to 2 months, followed by an order status which changes to reflect that your order was "shipped". But although you signed up to be notified of same, you never got the notice. When you get the system you may notice some components missing, or physical damage to the unit. Dell will not explain any of this, but attempt to bribe you with some cheesy piece of garbage from the Dellware catalog to pacify you. Dell is being run now like a third-string operation out of somebody's basement, the kind of back-page scam we used to read about in the consumer columns in the heyday of Computer Shopper. If you remember Dell from the 90's, forget it. That company was deep-sixed a long time ago. The only thing left now is the name. Forget Dell. Be afraid, be very afraid.
