Is that a valid quote?
"Itanium 2 is just too expensive," he said. "In the past, Opteron was gaining momentum. Last year, people started maxing out on the 4GB limit."

So now Opteron has stopped gaining momentum? The memory limit for Opteron is WELL above the 4GB limit of 32 bit processors.

I agree that the Itanium 2 is too expensive, but Opteron and Athlon 64 processors have been gaining momentum and that hasn't stopped. The announcement of Intel's version of AMD64 being included in this new version of the P4 and Xeon processors may cause some people to delay their purchase of a new system. Of course, the new P4/Xeon processors still arn't available, and no benchmarks or tests have been posted to show their performance so far.

Either the quote was incorrect, or someone hasn't been doing their homework before trying to add to Intel's standard FUD trying to scare people away from buying an AMD based system.
