"HP Quality" was spun-off along with Agilent
It was the original piece of HP that was known for quality and it was that part that was spun-off as Agilent. The remaining computer operation was no better and probably no worse than your average PC business (and I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about how good that is).

Meanwhile, on your HP 1220C: Find the service manual on the web. Disassemble the printer, remove the spitoon, disassemble it, and wash out all the old clotted-up ink (wear gloves or you'll be feeling very blue afterwards!) Reassemble it all and your printer will run again.

Or at least until you try and feed cardstock through it using the rear-entry slot. That allegedly-supported operation is *VERY* tricky.
