Other Laptop memory problems
HP/Compaq has had other problems with memory. I have a Compaq 705US that came with one removable 128MB module and one 128MB non-removable module. The system can be upgraded to 384MB by replacing the 128MB with a 256MB according to hp/Compaq. Everyone that did the upgrade would get system freezes and hangs. HP/Compaq soulution was to change the specs and say it is now not upgradeable. If you look up this memory on crucial.com they say it may be proprietary memory and contact the manufacturer. There is also an equilavent HP model that was doing the exact same thing. There used to be a long thread about this on the HP user forum until HP deleted it when someone mentioned a class action lawsuit for a defective product.
