You (god I miss the ability to use HTML tags) - No, this makes no sense. Microsoft wants to be more active in CPU development so they can lock the system down, so that it won't be hacked and used as a node in a Linux Cluster.

Me - Or, recognizing that MOST companies these days are using IBM processors in game consoles these days, maybe Microsoft has noticed the same thing Sony did. I have no idea, but do remember that Linux DOES run on a PowerPC chip, and I don't think it will take long to get Linux to run on anything custom Microsoft comes up with. So, I don't think that's their goal.

You - Go Microsoft, I hope IBM sticks it too them in the pricing of 9970 processor to make up for years of being bent over and blinded by the shrewd Software company.

Only if IBM wants to lose a big customer, which I doubt.
