- a 20% speed boost doesn't produce 20% gain
-
Changing the way the cpu is measured by what measurements pertain to wich name is one thing. Then factually the obviousness of the contrasted comparison to changing a suite of super-computing benches - nothing to do with each other.
Just like having different model numbers for different performance. Nothing to do with each other.
You take any PC related test using present suites of benchmark programs. You will see that 'any speed boost to any component, will result in a very accurate predictable improvement that will be almost precisely true increments to the unit improvement of speed boost compared to a test with same pc makeup and component set.
In single mhz increments wether it is in memory speed, bus speed, - anything that has the increment improvement is exactly the multiple of the gain in mhz in a comparable system.
But again you can measure bandwidth (bus) in different machines to come up with more statics. But processors that run faster perform incrementally consistent of the speed boost when compared with similar systems using same hardware archeture. To the T.
The very reason of being able to measure performance is that metric of Mhz.
A supercomputer will probably show you the same thing in its archeture.
The hard sell here is to have oneself endentured from anyone making comparisons. Then rubing it in as it where. Because now a different reference must pertain to the proprietors 'measurement name.
Get a feeling like the know betters, dont like the do gooders. Especially when they can make informed consistent buying choices. More room for glitz. Haven't seen any of that.
Whatever.
