Why do people buy a new of any product when there's an upgrade?
They'll buy a new one when it gets stolen, lol.

Just kidding . . .

. . . although sadly it's true - the iPod is one of the most stolen devices sad. A major news organization did a special on stolen iPods, and they had no troubles getting their bait iPods stolen.

They also had no troubles tracking down over half of their stolen iPods with special software (which was nothing more than redirecting the registration of the iPod to themselves). This tells me that Apple could, if they wanted, help people recover their stolen iPods.

Anyways, back on topic: Why do people buy a new of any product when there's an upgrade?

I think just the fact that it's new is going to get a lot of people buying a new one.

The higher price is probably higher quality and the fact that there's almost no competition for the largest storage sizes - who else offers 80 GB?
