AMD developed Hypertransport
AMD developed Hypertransport originally called Lightning Data Transfer pretty much on their own. The other members of the consortium helped bring the technology to market or simply "use" the technology or in some cases may be on a steering committee to help guide future direction and standards.

I would agree with a very small part of the original post, that by comparison the K6 was an inferior product, but everyone I knew couldnt afford the high Intel prices so we were quite greatful for AMD products. K7 and one AMD had a superior produce, unfortunately they didnt know how to properly market and sell it so that they could become a financially stronger company. It seems they have learned their lesson and have higher prices on the K8 products, but the price isnt what AMD fans are used to.
