You have a source better than Microsoft for when it will be released?
On March 29, 2004, in Infoworld, Gates says that it will be in 2006 for Longhorn release. See: http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/03/29/HNgateshorn_1.html

Speaking at Gartner's Symposium/ITexpo event in San Diego, Gates stopped short of setting 2006 as the year for Longhorn, but said that industry speculation that the operating system will come out in 2006 is "probably valid speculation."

From: http://news.com.com/2100-1008_3-5189453.html

Microsoft said on Friday that it is aiming to release Longhorn in the first half of 2006--a move that will require the company to scale back some of its more ambitious plans for the next version of Windows.

If Microsoft delays the Yukon products until 2005, Longhorn probably won't ship until the first half of 2006 at the earliest.

Can you point to any sources to support your date estimation?

Why do yo presume that (1) I would dump Linux wsome time in 2005 (2) that I am using Linux and not BSD or Windows or Solaris or ...

One might also conclude from my post that I have already been using multi core systems, so I am not impressed by the delays of Intel or AMD!

Have fun challanging the Microsoft schedule, you only make yourself look like a fool!
