cable tacks on 10$ for stand alone too.
When I got my first house, they didn't have DSL yet,
So, I got cable internet, and since I found Dish and
Direct TV are a better deal and better quality I didn't need the cable video,... That's when I found out, you either pay 15$ for cables local only package, or 10$ a month to rent the co-ax to your house,??..bummer...
So, the phone companies will do the same I'm sure, but now DSL is in my area, and I'm waiting to see if my cable provider is going to upgrade me again for free like they did 6 months ago when DSL arrived, If not, by the end of the year I'll switch, and be just fine with the 10$ add on for stand alone DSL.
With the courts ruling of late giving the bells the ability to invest all that cash into their networks without having some leach come in and take half their investments return, I see many more people having better and cheaper internet as DSL spreads out farther and faster to compete with the old cable.....
