missing the point
The big issue here is that last piece of wire that reaches our houses and offices. The reason for the regulated prices was to keep the wires on the poles from being to heavy and numerous. Could you just imagine what the poles would look like if they had a set of wire for each possible provider? Inovation already exists down to the 'dial tone' buildings, now if I could only get from there to your house/business without the excessive/gouge price offered by your local 'baby bell'...
