How do you know this?
I hear this often that my Powermac is faster than my (fill in the blank here). How do you know? When I got my G4 Powermac I swore it was faster than my at the time AMD 1.2ghz but I could find no real benchmarks to support what I thought. I think that I wanted to believe it was faster because I spent almost $2100.00 more for my Powermac than my AMD rig.
At work we have Dell's ranging from 1.7Ghz all the way up to 3.2Ghz most with a minimum of 512MB RAM and all 2.4Ghz and up with 1.5GB ram. We also have a couple 1.8 G5 and I "feel" no speed difference at all. I am not knocking Mac by any means it's just that I hear this statement without anyone able to actually quantify it. Frankly I see no way to accurately compare the two very different platforms.
