highend machines. They do sometimes, but not often. Highend machines are bought by users that NEED the performance.
I'll agree that clockspeed isn't everything. Bus speeds are much more important now that CPU clockspeed is way up. But I'll take my 1.74 GHz AMD Athlon 2100 over anything CPU under 1 GHz (including Mac CPUs) because it will execute faster. Plus the price of these great chips is dropping like crazy. I know I don't need the latest 3GHz chip, but if that 3GHz chip drives down the cost of the 2GHz chips... then I'm just fine with the chip makers going for faster clock speeds. - Posted by: nikoli Posted on: 06/08/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
