No Ax was correct - WiMAX is the future for wireless.
And WiMAx is also the future of economic vitality and freedom in the USA. But the key is to keep the airwaves of most value out of corporate hands.

Lets back up. Post WWII a generation recognized the importance of public broadcasting for education of the population. An educated population is necessary for a true democracy. Hence the USA set aside unbounded bandwidth for hundreds of television broadcast stations. The hope was that a diversity of opinion would be reflected on those stations and the US population would become knowledgeable not only of current events and politial candidates but also of critical decision making which is needed to determine who does wrong, is likely to do wrong, and to vote. Only, owing to monopoly power, lack of political will, and I believe corporate interest in bounded media, the promise wasn't met.

Today that unused bandwidth should be used as the Post WWII generation intended. It happens to threaten greatly corporate interests in bounded media (fiber optic and other cable delivered media) who are predicted to purchase that unused bandwidth and then NOT USE IT so that revenue streams from the obsoleted bounded media can continue for at least another decade.

The unused bandwidth is particularly attractive because it is the airwaves that go through buildings. No other nation has such a valuable resource not already in use. This unused unbounded media hence can, when put to use as ClearWire has done, make the USA the greatest economic engine of all time.

Patriots will see this. Those that hate the USA will work against it. God Bless America. What iPhone and AT&T have done WiMax will perfect. Think of electronic voting. Think of consumer education. Think of the identification of wrong-doers before the wrong can involve more than a handful. But we can not let this public commons - our building piercing airwaves - be directed to another purpose.
