Google manages many petabytes (that's one thousand terabytes) of information on tens of thousands of servers. They design systems that require motherboards and chipsets to be compatible and upgradeable. If you had any IT experience, this would be obvious to you.

Heck, even I care if I'll be able to upgrade my computer in a year when it's slid down to the middle range of greatness. The only people who don't care about roadmaps and foreseeable upgrades are those who buy $300* prefab computers every three years.
