- bait hook ... wait for bites ... open bios has nothing to do with virii
- since this only affects the boot process, an OS which wants to ditch the bios simply maps it out of the address space and poof ... it goes away. Remember shadow rom, or ram based video rom or ... if the OS vendor does not want the BIOS image to hang around it will be disabled ... at worst it is a single bit anded to the chip enable, it will show up in the feature list for exactly the reason you mention!
