Not that simple...
"Longhorn will support whatever processors are available at the time it launches."

Lots of debate going on at MS about that. One group wants the backward compatibility while the other group wants to let the legacy support go and start with a clean slate. Unfortunately the "solution" will probably be that both are included in Longhorn and you'll install whatever is appropiate. But make no mistake, Longhorn is being aimed directly at multi-core CPUs of the 64-bit variety.

Not quite true. Some developers already have their hands on a "PC" that uses the IBM CPU. After all, you have to have something to develop the games on. Does that mean IBM may become a major "PC" CPU vendor? Could just be, after all they are a hardware company and they do know just a wee bit about building CPUs.

I'm wondering if gamers will insist upon being able to have a "PC" for thier games and for development/hacking/tweaking games for the Xbox. They certainly have with the existing Xbox...
