Don't laugh too hard at them
the media hype (not necessarily Apple's PR machine), made this seem like a do or die situation, that people 'might' shoot and loot each other like the PS3 ruckus, and maybe like the console makers, there could be a 'faked' shortage of supply for the created demand. All in all, this has been orderly and almost like standing in line for the Star Wars films type of friendly. Sure, few were dressed like Steve Jobs, but quite a few campers had their Macs with them to show their badges of honor. Maybe, just maybe those ebay gougers didn't show up and that's why supply was poached and the consumers fleeced (well except by AT&T's network and plan).

Bravo, far better than a console launch. Now, for version 2 of the phone for the fence sitters and working the bugs or features out.
