"sharp" and "smooth" aren't the right words . . .
"albeit with images that are less sharp and motions less smooth than pricier cards produce."

LOL. Shows what happens when you let a non-gamer compare video cards XD. Instead of actually comparing them, he just throws out the words "sharp" and "smooth" so he sounds good to himself.

Both of the 8 series cards from nVidia are very powerful cards, and you won't notice any difference between them until games start to take full advantage of their power. For current games, they're pretty much overkill - but not for long, as new games are coming that will make the most out of them.

And has AMD finally released a DirectX 10 card? It's about time. nVidia has had their cards out for a while.

And oh, yeah: If you want a lot of bang, but don't have the bucks for the high-end cards, that 8400 has more than enough power - more power than any DirectX 9 card. It's still more than enough power for today's games.

Interesting how people here don't like nVidia - personally, I've liked their video cards and haven't had any problems with them. I'll probably be buying an 8 series card next time I upgrade.

nVidia vs AMD is frankly a matter of personal taste from what I can tell. Both vendors produce very good video cards. I personally lean towards nVidia.
