Not really ...
It sounds more like a joint venture with AMD and Zenith to me, with MS set to distribute the finished product. This is not the same as MS actually manufacturing the hardware. BUT ... in light of the advance of Linux which gives hardware vendors a crack at bypassing MS, I am really more surprised that MS has NOT attempted to buy an existing hardware vendor. That would allow them to thumb their noses at everybody but Intel (of course they COULD always buy AMD as well). But I am sure that such a move on their part would only stir up more anti-trust frenzy, and I am also sure they are not wanting that to happen. But there has to be a powerful temptation for them to move into the hardware realm. Perhaps this is a 'pilot' experiment in preparation for attempting bigger things. The mere thought of MS becoming independent of the hardware guys must make you drool No_Ax. I can't imagine the amount of gloating we would have to put up with from you if it were to actually happen for real.
