Angel's advocate...
"OK, this is one that might work except that most people who can afford this networked house are not concerned with, nor have the time for 5-10% savings."

Given our energy use they may not have a choice. You do understand we are talking about billions of kilowatts if everyone was required to cut use 5% don't you? (Remember the gasoline crisis of the 70s?)

"This is good except you don't need no Internet for an electronic valve.
Now if it could download an OSS (free as in free) plumber...."

Unless of course I am away from home and need to be alerted so I can contact the plumber.

"You're watching videos while driving?
Hope the life insurance covers the kids education."

Hmmm, seems millions use a cell phone everyday. Or if you happen to be concerned about saftey you can wait to check on it at the next red light. (Yes, use does require common sense.)

"Now, if the roast can hop over to the oven, the spuds peel themseves, we're in business."

That is IF I have spuds in the kitchen or do I have to stop on the way home?

"an impressive dinner only starts with seeing what's in the fridge"

Exactlly my point, thank you!
