I'd say because it came with the hardware
Like when you buy a SUN server. Costs about the same if not a little less than a DELL server and come with the Solaris OS free of charge.

If you want you can even download the latest OS free of charge for SUN Hardware. Hardware is kind of useless with out an OS.
