Bluray = Broad industry support
Contrary to what you just said, Bluray has broad industry support while HD-DVD does not. The only company making HD-DVD standalone player is Toshiba. The only company making external drives is Microsoft. The only studio supporting HD-DVD exclusively is Universal. It only has 30 GB for dual-layer. Max bit rate is limited.

Bluray standalone players are made by Sony, Philips, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Pioneer. It has industry support from Apple, Dell, HP, etc. Exclusive studios include Fox, Sony, and Disney (including Pixar). So, what makes you think Bluray is exclusive to Sony while it is the one that has broad industry support.
