- Nothing new under the Sun (or Dell)
- Retail may be a good idea for Dell but it is not a new one. Back in the 1990-93 time-frame I acquired over a hundred Dell computers through the CompUSA store in Schamburg, IL. It was a great convenience to be able to get high end (for the time) workstations in quantities of four or five at a time without long waits. Frequently these were in stock. Worked well for a R&D group such as mine. I would question whether Wal-Mart would be of similar use for an industrial group. It seems unlikely that they would stock high-end configurations. The the "computer store" of the 1980's has all but disappeared. With a few exceptions industry must rely direct sales for its needs.
