ISV's were supported by Apple in a big way
I think your message was very revealing and pertinent. But I disagree with your analysis of why the ISV's are disappearing.

You said "So, I never made my apps available for the Apple world. Why? Just because that market is too small and that the return on investment is not proven if you compare it to the same amount of bucks spent for the X86 architecture."

Should Apple lay down and die because you won't write apps for them? That's a presposterous notion. Apple relied on ISV's for years but ISV's proved to be disappointing, porting wintel thinking into the Apple user environment - just doesn't work well at all.

MS has grown itself into a monopoly and they sucked you right into the game with the promise of a much greater return on investment. If money is your only game, somebody will come after yours. Bill Gates wasn't kidding in his book because he wrote it from a biographical perspective (he's firing the bullets!) You should have made a fortune writing for x86. Is that what happened to you?

Apple has no reason to depend on ISV's for commodity products because they have generally disappointed (WinAmp, Internet Explorer, Netscape - all inferior products to what Apple has developed because few ISV's understand the platform and the thinking).

And, Apple Computer is a hardware company that writes fantastic software for their brilliant hardware. You think there is a big market for Mac OS X on S86, go write Virtual OSX and make your fortune. That will give people a choice on every computer, wouldn't it? Not a soul stopping you but you, I would guess.
