Kill the Bugs!
"Introducing kill commands, Kaliski said, would "discourage innovation" and would be "counterproductive". There are indeed uses being touted for zombie tags. Taking goods back to a shop, for example, would be easier; recalling faulty or dangerous goods would be simpler; and distributing pharmaceuticals could be made safer by using RFID to scan for potentially harmful combinations."

I don't know where to start!

Discourage innovation of new data-mining techniques?

Counterproductive for whom? Once the tag has been used for "inventory control" what other "productive" uses would it have?

If you must take the goods back to the shop you will be required to have your receipt of payment for it which will have the item I.D. on it anyway.

Recalling goods requires that the purchaser be able to identify the model/serial number. Not likely to carry your T.V. back to the store and have it scanned to see if it's included in the recall are you?

Pharmaceutical prescriptions are already compared to limit harmful combinations.

I see much potential for abuse of "zombie-tags" and if not outright abuse then culling of information that "owners" may be unaware of at the least.

Except for delicates such as electronics and such I would microwave on high for 3 seconds to kill the bugs happy
