Sure, let's ignore reality...
So far, to quote: http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/news/article.php/3349351

Everyone's talking about the WiMax standard for wireless metropolitan area networks (wireless MANs) -- so much so that people forget that the technology, based on IEEE 802.16, isn't even here yet. Dated: May 4, 2004

Regarding deployment: WiMax-certified system to be on the market by April of 2005.

What they may be using is GRID networks, which link many Wi-Fi sites to create a larger area of coverage (what I suspect you are mistaking for WiMAX deployment). Sorry if the FCC, Intel and everyone elxe involved with WiMAX development don't agree with you!

It ain't here yet, didn't you read the whole thing? Deployment in 2005! Police have cellular networks of other radio technologies in their cars, but it isn't WiMAX!

Sorry to introduce reality into the discussion, but you don't seem to grasp where the technology stands curently!

The article is about 2 technologies that are used now!

Curious, why do you ignore WiMAX  No_Ax_to_Grind | 05/17/04
Maybe because it has nothing to do with the article  UncleBubba | 05/17/04
Not true.  No_Ax_to_Grind | 05/17/04
No_Ax is confused!  B.O.F.H. | 05/17/04
Perhaps because BPRS and Wi-Fi are local area networing technologies  B.O.F.H. | 05/17/04
Where do you come up with this drivel?  No_Ax_to_Grind | 05/17/04
Perhaps the technical committees that work on this stuff don?t know...  B.O.F.H. | 05/17/04
WiMAX is Wireless Broadband, according to..  B.O.F.H. | 05/17/04

I am wrong, and so is IEEE as well as the 802.15 group...  B.O.F.H. | 05/17/04
Whatever you say little one. Lets wait and see...  No_Ax_to_Grind | 05/18/04
Product will be availiable by April, 2005  B.O.F.H. | 05/18/04
