Ok, I'll lead you by the hand...
So basically, WiMAX is last mile, Wi-Fi is LAN!

Hmmm, so I suppose you have no clue about all the cities and small towns using WiFi as a last mile solution??? Is that a WAN? I mean with 10 miles of coverage one would think so. Speak up if need me to locate the sites for you.

Perhaps you would like to see how Law Enforcement is using WiMAX for ROAMING patrole cars or being connected to their LAN? Again, speak up if you haven't a clue and need my help.

From their web site: (Which you ignored.)

About WiMAX Forum

The purpose of WiMAX is to promote deployment of broadband wireless access networks by using a global standard and certifying interoperability of products and technologies.

Gee, no mention of it being WAN only. Imagine that. Gasp, they even go on to talk about it as 4G wireless for cell phone use. Good grief, how is that possible???

Or maybe you should look at a little company called "Intel" and how they are gearing up to make chips compatible with the Centrino line. Silly Intel, they think it's better to have a system that is used for BOTH LAN and WAN topology and making it easier and cheaper for the end user.

One could also lend you a clue about the different topologies of 802.16a, 11b, 11c, and 11d. But I'm afraid of shorting out the few remaining brain cells youy have left with an overload... Sheeesh.....
