Perhaps because GPRS and Wi-Fi are local area networing technologies
and WiMAX is a WAN technology! They are for different markets, just like Bluetooth (Personal Area, 5 meters) and Wi-Fi (Local Area, 100 meters) target different markets! This woulod be like comparing a Ferrari Formula 1 car with a stock Honda Accord!
