While your friend's story concludes with the installation of Open Office, as much as you and I might dislike it, it does accomplish its ends. Two relatives that had purchased new systems with the addition of the trialware did in fact go forward and purchase the actual programs: Both went with Microsoft Office and one with the addition of Norton Internet Security.

My neighbor on the other hand continues to use the free Microsoft Works as the program handles everything that she needs it for.
