- Definately could use some improvement......

However, I am an RF engineer. I have over 130 customers on
802.11b, longest link is 14 miles. On a 5.7 GHz system with
about 85 customers, my longest link (20 Mb/s) is 22 miles.
Biggest thing to watch is freq. seperation and resuse, proper
antenna selection, RF power levels, RX sensitivity, and fresnel
zone intrusion. Also use SSID differentiation / WEP keys to keep
clients on the proper AP.
Also with proper use of RTS / CTS all of my users can get 1.5
Mb/s (the highest level of service we offer to customers).
Running on a unshaped IP I can get 4.5 Mb/s to my house, 3
radio hops from the NOC. If I was using our 5.7 system, I could
get about 6 meg. - Posted by: middle of nowhere Posted on: 05/12/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
