Mixed system or mixed message?
real_techie, your definition of what's Communist and the application to China is overly simplistic and is also based on your political agenda, for good or bad. China, like most countries has a mixed economic and political system. In fact, there have been few truly pure large communist governments. Nevertheless, China is essentially Communist. To say otherwise is intentionally disingenuous

It should also be noted that America is hardly purely capitalist, and has adopted some socialist, Communist if you have the stomach to accept it, aspects. This is neither condemnation nor praise; just a realistic assessment that we too have a mixed economic and political system. Despite all its faults and shortcomings, I prefer America's system to that of the Communist Chinese.

However, what I find disturbing it that two computer firms, Intel and IBM, which are essential to American economic and military strength will be relying of products designed and manufactured by a country that at best is a serious rival and at worst a deadly enemy. In as much as Microsoft can?t get its coding act together, what make us think the Chinese won?t imbed Trojan codes in chips?
