- This is already the case for Itanium
- Itanium processors already had support for the x86 instruction set which was a horrid idea and credited for many of its problems (long delays in release, horrid performance). Now the x86 instruction set is emulated on versions of Windows & Linux that support Itanium through the use of the IA-32 EL software.
