Crippled music player
From what I"ve read elsewhere, the Vaio Pocket only plays files in
the ATRAC format. While the article claims it can "handle tunes
in the MP3, Windows Media and WAV formats", it uses the
awkward Sony Windows-only software to convert these formats
into the rarely used ATRAC.

Sony's online music store has already been called an
"embarassment" by the Washington Post. The ridiculous DRM
scheme (burn only to 5 music cds, transferring the music to
another PC loses all rights to burn or transfer to a mobile device,
really odd restrictions on Warner group music) is going to make
it a non-starter.

Once again, this shows the ridiculous power held by the Sony
entertainment group over their electronics group. The
electronics end of things brings in way, way, way more money
than the music end of things, yet for some reason, Sony is
content to let the little dog dominate the big dog.

Odd, really.
