You know, I can almost imagine the meeting between MS and Intel on this. If you can't/won't, AMD will!

MS outlined what they want, platform wise, for the next version of Windows (Dual core, 64-bit, 4-6 GHz) and AMD heard the message loud and clear while Intel took the, "when we are ready" approach. You don't have to be a genius to see what has happened here and it's not pretty for Intel.

I recently had an opportunity to do some work on a new AMD based 64-bit machine and it was more than just fast, it RAWKED! Intel better give the engineering group the space to do what they do best and keep the marketing people out of the decision/design process. If they don't, AMD is going to hand them their lunch and it won't take years to happen.
