Because basically they're a beast with many heads. While their
more profitable electronics division sees that they should be in
the mp3 world, their less profitable music division is deathly
afraid of anything that might cut into their cocaine and
prostitute funds. As an RIAA member, they're willing to cut their
own nose off to spite their own face. So they've blocked Sony
from reaping the massive profits they could see for going along
with the rest of the industry.
