Wish we could!
Most of these posts have forgotten a lot of us in rural areas with few, or no, options. We have only two TV sets, both analog, one a 20" Panasonic, and the 2nd and older Orion that replaced a 9" B&W set. There is no cable option in our area and they don't plan to install cable ever. A couple of our wealthier neighbors have dish systems, but most folks, like us, are retired and on fixed incomes. Several elderly widows live on social security and their only contact with the outside world is TV and the visits of friends and neighbors. Some can't get out of their homes anymore, but can't afford nursing homes. None care a hoot about digital TV or bandwidth, they just want to have some company. We're among the few to have computer access, or want it. Our highest connection speed is 28.8 Kbps and Bell South says they have no plans to upgrade the lines. Two communities in this area got phone service last year for the first time ever!

It's no problem if you can afford the latest and greatest, but for many of us, these forced upgrades will create huge problems. You've got to be kidding about TIVO. We just upgraded to a new VCR a year ago. It must be nice to be in a position to ignore the plight of those less fortunate than you are.
